Robert “Bobby” Ronald Clanton, 83, Rogersville, AL passed away on May 10, 2019.

Bobby was born in Madison County on Oct 23, 1935. After a medical discharge from the Navy he worked various jobs in the automotive industry. He co-owned Clanton Auto Parts in south Huntsville before moving to Rogersville in 1973 to open Rogersville Auto Parts. Later he opened Clanton Muffler Shops in Rogersville, Killen, Athens, Florence, St. Joseph, TN, Huntsville, and Saraland, AL.

He was a former Rogersville town councilman, a member of the Rogersville Masonic Lodge and the First Baptist Church of Rogersville.

Bobby loved spending time hunting, fishing, and watching Alabama football with his family. He was a loving husband and father, admired and respected by family and friends for his kindness, generosity, and caring nature.

Bobby Clanton was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Birdie Clanton; sister, Shirley Stephens; brother, John Clanton; and grandson, Dustin Clanton.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Hamilton Clanton of Rogersville, and his children Rena Clanton Richardson (Michael), Sheila Clanton DeRochemont (Peter), and Robert Clanton (Kim), Chris Hunt (Amy) and Keith Hunt.

Survivors also include his grandchildren, Chad Clanton, Jennifer Watson, Trevor Shook, Jordan Richardson, Rachel Richardson, Heather McCollister, Haley Davis, and Michael Richardson Jr, Hunter Hunt, Hayden Hunt, Candi Marks, and Trae Poss; 18 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marie Stephens, Mary Reny, and Della Rumore; and one brother, Gene Clanton

Memorial Service will be Tuesday, May 14th at First Baptist Church of Rogersville. Visitation will be at the church from 3-5 p.m. with the memorial service beginning at 5 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.
