Gloria Angelene Williams – Obituary

Angelene M. WilliamsGloria Angelene Williams, “Angelene” 84, from Cherokee passed away peacefully at home after a short illness. Her visitation will be Monday, May 13, 2019 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home in Cherokee with a graveside service following at 3:30 p.m. at Harris Chapel Cemetery. Brother Steve Slaton will officiate the service.

“Angelene” as she was known to friends and family, was born November 26, 1934 in Hodges, Alabama. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Cherokee. Everyone who met her immediately fell in love with her beautiful smile and infectious laugh. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Arthur Williams.

Though she was not able to have children of her own, she had a special niece, Melanie, who she helped raise and treated as a daughter.
The family would like to thank Hospice of North Alabama for the care they gave not only to Angelene, but also to her family and friends.

Pallbearers are Jimmy Dale Thomason, Billy Ray Ogletree, Isaac Jones, Gene Malone, Arthur Waldrep, and Lawrence Harrell. Honorary pallbearers are Chester Williams, Mike Worsham, Wade Turbyville, and Russ Logan.
