F.5.10.19 Bertram Hester.jpg Bertram Hudson Hester, 94, passed away Wednesday May 8, 2019, at Helen Keller Hospital. Bert was a lifelong resident of Franklin County, worked as a teamster, and retired from TVA.

Bert was a World War II veteran, having joined in 1943 and served in the US Navy in the South Pacific on the USS Amsterdam CL 101. Bert was an active member of the American Legion and served in many posts. Bert was a member of the Burnout Missionary Baptist Church.

Services will be Sunday, May 12, 3 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, AL with Mike Deaton officiating. Military honors and burial will be at Burnout Cemetery, Vina, AL. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.

Bert is survived by daughter, Pam Hendon (David) of Sheffield, AL; granddaughter, Laryessa Holmes (John) of Soddy Daisy, TN; grandson, Corey Hendon (Kelly) of Athens, AL; great grandson, Ian Holmes; great grandson, Casey Hendon; great granddaughter, Coraline Hendon; brother, Charles Hester of Pensacola, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

Bert was preceded in death by his wife, Elma Jean Hester; daughter, Sandy George; granddaughter, Jeannine Hendon; great granddaughter, Olivia Hendon; and several brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 12, 2-3 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL.
