Leona Martin Wright – Obituary

Leona Martin Wright, 90 of Huntsville died May 8, 2019. She was born at home in Cullman County. Leona worked for many years for the Federal government, retiring from the Defense Intelligence Agency in Washington, D.C. She earned her B.A. degree from the University of Alabama at Huntsville.

Leona was a devout Christian and lived her faith. She served the Lord on over 20 medical mission trips to Honduras.

Leona loved people and travel. She travelled extensively in her life, visiting as many countries as she could and making friends along the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents W.C. “Carl” and Ollie Martin; two brothers, Thoyd and Pascal; two sisters, Doris and Boots (Willodean). She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

The family wishes to acknowledge her many friends who furnished unwavering support.

Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home, with the funeral service following in the chapel. She will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Gardens in Anniston. (www.laughlinservice.com)

Leona loved children. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in her honor to Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes or St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
