Obituary of Derrell ButlerDerrell Butler, age 79, of Decatur, Alabama passed away on Tuesday April 30, 2019. Derrell was born January 17, 1939 in Arkadelphia, Alabama. Derrell Butler moved to Decatur as a youngster with his parents, Dewey and Willie Mae and sisters, Sally and Betty Faye. Derrell served in the U.S. Army for three years, where he was a sharp shooter for Special Ops. A fact that his children never knew! He married Donna Jean Miner on March 6, 1965. Together, they had two sons, Darren and David. He worked for General Electric for thirty-three years as a tool and dye machinist. He was an avid fisherman and loved tournament fishing. He designed and built his own fishing lures and would happily pass them along to fellow fishermen. Derrell and Donna were married for 48 years, and he loved her more than life itself. He was a devoted father, father-in-law, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather. For most of his adult life, Derrell was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church of Eva, Alabama. Derrell is preceded in death by his wife Donna Butler, parents Dewey and Willie Mae Butler and a sister Sally McKelvey. Derrell is survived by his children Darren Butler and his wife Freda and David Butler and his wife Sabrina. Sister Betty Faye Allen. Grandchildren Jake Butler and his wife Madison, Coty Butler and his wife Lauren, Alexis Butler, Gage Butler, Evie Rosa Butler, Jack Butler, Hans Butler and Coco Butler. Great grandchildren Hunter Butler and Kinsleigh Butler. Visitation for Derrell will be held Saturday, May 4, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home. Derrell will lie in state Sunday, May 5, 2019 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Bethel United Methodist Church, Eva, Alabama. Celebration of Life Service will be Sunday, May 5, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Bethel United Methodist Church, Eva, Alabama. Derrell will be laid to rest at Bethel United Methodist Cemetery, Eva, Alabama.
