James E. Barrett, 90, passed away Friday, May 3, 2019, at the Courtyards Community Living Center. He was born February 4, 1929, to Riley E. and Haley Jones Barrett. He was a member of Lone Star Freewill Baptist Church. In his earlier years he worked in the sawmill and cotton gin but spent most of his career as a truck driver. He enjoyed bluegrass music and traveling with his wife Jane to bluegrass festivals.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 5, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Cory Alexander officiating. Burial will be in Itawamba Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Jane Blanton Barrett, of Tremont; his daughter, Sandy Wiygul Bell (Gary) of Simpsonville, SC; two stepsons, Pete Blanton (Cindy) and Shelby Blanton (Marcia), all of Tremont; one sister, Nell Grissom of Pell City, Ala.; seven grandchildren, Trae Wiygul (Karen), Chad Wiygul (Elizabeth), Holly Wiygul Wright (Jay), Casey Blanton (Emily), Jana Allison (T.J.), Elaina Valleji (Talon), and Andrea Rockwell (Seth); 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Sarah Hardin Barrett; his parents; two brothers, Ellis Lowell “John” Barrett and an infant brother; two sisters, Lucille Taylor and Mickey Bates Grammer; and an infant great-granddaughter, Sarah Kathrine Wright.

Visitation will be from noon until service time Sunday at the funeral home.
