NASHVILLE – Mac McAnally won his 5th consecutive “Musician of the Year” CMA Award at the CMA award show Thursday night.Sheffield’s favorite son of music, is a songwriter, instrumentalist, singer, and producer. However, he is probably best known as Jimmy Buffett’s friend, collaborator and long-time member of Buffett’s band, “The Coral Reefers”.
Ever humble, Mac said, “So Chet Atkins has nine of these awards and now I have been blessed with five. My Dad loved Chet and used to tell me to practice hard and maybe someday play like Chet. Well I’m still practicing, but not there yet. More work to do but proud to be in the vicinity.”
Mac’s first ever live CD Mac McAnally Live in Muscle Shoals was recorded at the W. C. Handy Music Festival held in Florence, Alabama and is available through his website and iTunes.
