Mrs. Gertie Ruth Cooley Mrs. Gertie Ruth Cooley, age 84, of Union Grove, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2019.
Mrs. Cooley was born on May 26, 1934 in Marshall County to Earl Eugene Glass & Edell Nailor Glass. She was married to the late Edgar Earl Cooley who passed away on October 20, 2008. She enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, attending yard sales, antiquing looking for furniture and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
She was a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church.
Mrs. Cooley is survived by her sons & daughter-in-law, Kenny Peacock, Randall Cooley & Sandra Logan Cooley; daughter & son-in-law, Joannie Cooley Reed & Hal Reed; grandchildren, Shane Mason & Fealicia, Dustin Reed & Kaleigh, Carla Peacock, Miranda Logan; great grandchildren, Carson, Asher & Gracelyn Reed; brothers & sisters-in-law, Bob Glass & Hulanda, Roger Glass & Sandra; sisters & brothers-in-law, Jane Fowler, Mimi Reeves & Gerald, Barbara Osborne & Ray. Preceded in death by her parents, Earl Eugene Glass & Edell Nailor Glass; husband, Edgar Earl Cooley; son, Randy Bowland; sister, Edna Mae Glass; brothers, Ray Glass, Wade Glass, Olen Glass.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Sweet Home Baptist Church with Bro. Tim Lynch, officiating. Burial will be in Sweet Home Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing. A lie-in-state will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Shane Mason, Dustin Reed, Jamie Glass, Nathan Glass, Mike Jones, Mike Ridgeway; Honorary Pallbearer, Carson Reed.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Heartlite Hospice, 111 E Willow St, Scottsboro, AL 35768 or St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
