Dorothy P. Kirby – Obituary

Funeral service for Dorothy P. Kirby, 85, will be Thursday, April 25, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mike Vest and Bro. Thomas Elder officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.  Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.  Visitation will be Wednesday, April 24, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.

Mrs. Kirby died on Monday, April 22, 2019 at  her residence.  She was born July 14, 1933, in Morgan County to William Eugene Hartselle and Elizabeth Long Hartselle, who preceded her in death .  She was employed as a lunchroom worker for the Hartselle City School System prior to her retirement.  In the 67 years as a member at Oak Ridge Methodist Church, Mrs. Kirby was the pianist for the entire 67 years, a youth leader for many years and was instrumental in the organization of the United Methodist Women. She was also a seamtress, an avid bowler, a softball player, gardener, who loved her roses, and a cheerleader for her grandchildren, as she followed them all over the southeast supporting them in every sport.

Two Daughters:
Dottie Kirby Wallace (Larry) and
Patsy Kirby Weekley (Tom)

Eight Grandchildren and
Sixteen Great Grandchildren

Pallbearers will be Michael Clark, Rusty Clark, Collins Clark, Bryan Cross, Tyler Kirby and Michael Newton.

In lieu of flowers; family requests memorial donations be made to Alacare Hospice.
