Earl Eugene Madewell – Obituary

Mr. Earl Eugene Madewell 80, a Spencer resident and a Van Buren County native, passed from this life Saturday April 13, 2019 at his residence from an extended illness. He attended the Seventh-day Adventist Church, enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and being outdoors. He graduated from Van Buren County High School in the class of 1957. He worked in sales, home repair and remodeling for many years. Eugene was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He was born February 14, 1939 to the late Isaac Elbert Madewell and Audrey Gladys Simmons Madewell. He was also preceded in death by his sister Maxine Madewell Barks Jones.

He is survived by his loving wife Wilma Goode Madewell of Spencer, son; Nathan Eugene (Nicole) Madewell of Spencer, daughter; Heather (Brent) Cleland of Brentwood, brother; Elbert Ray Madewell of Spencer, grandchildren; Peter and Isaac Cleland, Lily and Adeline Madewell. Many extended family members and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be Tuesday April 16, 2019 at 2:00PM in the Layne Funeral Chapel with Pastor Dennis Clark officiating. Burial will follow in the Spencer Town Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday April 15th from 4:00pm to 9:00pm.
