James Gordon "Onie" BeckJames Gordon “Onie” Beck, age 76 of Leoma, Tennessee, departed this life on April 10, 2019. He was born on November 10, 1942 in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee to the late Armintie Phillips Beck and Ollie Oren Beck. A graduate of Lawrence County High School, he served his country in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968. He enjoyed working for several years at United Parcel Service as a driver and manager, and later retired from employment with the Tennessee Valley Authority in 2008, after working his way through apprenticeship program as an electrician and supervisor.His hobbies included friendly teasing of family,friends and acquaintances, duck hunting,gardening,rooting for the Tennessee Volunteers, and serving as Commander at the American Legion Post 146.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Theresa Gloria Sharp Beck, daughters Shannon Beck of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, Shari O’Rear Cain (Charley) of Hartselle, Alabama, Tracey O’Rear Bastian (Sam) of Franklin, Tennessee, and adopted son Kevin Lynn Sherrell (Sandra) of Leoma, Tennessee; grandchildren Taylor Cain Matz (Steven) of Nashville, Tennessee, Madison Cain Johnson (Jared) of Nashville, Tennessee, Logan Cain of Nashville, Tennessee, Kelsey Bastian of Memphis, Tennessee, Alyssa Bastian and Savannah Bastian of Franklin, Tennessee, Chloe Beck Webb of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, Blake Sherrell (Brittany), Kendall Sherrell (caiti), and Emily Sherrell of Leoma, Tennessee; sisters and brothers Peggy Pickard, Betty Sue Addington, Edith “Tooty” Joiner, Erma Carrell (Don), Carol Brewer (Frank), Mack Beck (Jerri), Oren “Buddy” Beck, and Virgil Beck (Carolyn). James is leaving behind many special neighbors, friends and caregivers.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday April 13, 2019 at Loretto Memorial Chapel with Visitation on Saturday April 13, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Loretto Memorial Chapel. Sam Bastian will be officiating . Internment immediately following at Pleasant Grove, Red Hill, Lawrence County, Tennessee. American Legion Post #146 will conduct military burial honors at the graveside.

Pallbearers- Tommy Beck, Brian Beck, Blake Sherrell, Kendall Sherrell, Nolan Riley, Steve Addington and Don Pickard

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Legion, Post 146, 2906 Highway 43 South, Loretto, Tennessee 38469.
