A “Momentous Weekend” for Florence Academy of Fine Arts students

FLORENCE-Mr. Jerry Foster, Director of Florence Academy of Fine Arts (FAFA), reports that this past weekend (April 5,6,8) was a “…momentous time for the Florence Academy of Fine Arts” students. Activities and events are described below:

 

  • FAFA was nominated and selected as the winner of the prestigious Impact Award, which awarded to an organization that is having the greatest impact on the Arts in Alabama (…The Impact Award is the second honor FAFA has received in the last several weeks as we are also a CLAS banner school)

 

  • TheFAFA Jazz Band traveled to Tennessee to perform at Dollywood

 

  • TV Production & Film students traveled to Birmingham to film the State Arts Alliance Conference

 

  • The Dance Troupe performed their Bicentennial Piece “Helen” (based on the life of Helen Keller) at the conference. Mr. Foster reports the performance “…did not leave a dry eye in the house”

 

  • The FAFA Recording Arts students were in Troy at the Mic Check Invitational; the FAFA students brought home both awards from the competition~

Best Vocalist Savanna Kirby

 

  • The FAFA Musical Theatre company presented its “…best Theatrical performance ever!” here in Florence at the Performance Center as they thrilled audiences with the classic “Music Man!” This production was a total FAFA presentation with a cross-departmental collaborative effort by students from theatre, art, choral, dance, band, orchestra and theatre tech & design!
