Ana Carolina Behel of Weeden Elementary School selected as District VII Elementary Teacher of the Year: A “Sweet 16” State finalist

FLORENCE-The Alabama State Department of Education released the names of the outstanding educators who have been selected as the “Sweet 16” finalists from a group of over 140 teacher applicants for the 2019/2020 Alabama Teacher of the Year, and for the second year in a row, a teacher from Florence City Schools has been selected as one of the 16 State finalists:

Congratulations to Mrs. Ana Carolina Behel of Weeden Elementary School, Florence City School System District VII Elementary Teacher of the Year.

Florence High School’s Robin Thompson was selected for the 2018-2019 District VII Secondary Teacher of the Year. The 16 State finalists will be narrowed down to the top four. The names of the final four will be announced prior to the announcement of The 2019-2020 Alabama Teacher of the Year at a special ceremony hosted by the Alabama State Board of Education and the Alabama State Department of Education on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at 6 p.m., at the RSA Plaza Terrace in Montgomery, AL.
