The Shoals Chamber Singers celebrate the divine with Laudate Dominum “Praise the Lord”

FLORENCE-The Shoals Chamber Singers will offer two performances of their spring concert, Laudate Dominum “Praise the Lord.” At 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, at Sheffield First United Methodist Church and again at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7, at Florence First United Methodist Church, the choir will showcase an array of sacred songs. Performances are free to the public, with donations being accepted at the door.

 

Curated by conductor Nick Murphy, the music will be worship-filled and feature multiple soloists, guest conductor Jane Powell, and guest organist Christopher-Joel Carter IV.  Selections will include: spiritual “Elijah Rock” as arranged by Moses Hogan, R. Nathaniel Dett’s “Chariot Jubilee,” Shawn Kirchner’s arrangement of “Angel Band” and a rendition of “Abide with Me” arranged by Shoals Chamber Singers’ own collaborative pianist, Christina Mathis. The Shoals Chamber Singers wish to thank both venues for hosting.

The Shoals Chamber Singers are dedicated to bringing the highest quality choral music to listeners in the Shoals and Northern Alabama. This group of auditioned singers performs an eclectic repertoire extending back to the Renaissance and through the most contemporary idioms. Begun in 1987 with founding conductor, Kevin Robison, the choir’s focus is the enrichment of the human spirit and the fellowship of community through performing great choral art.
