Burnice E. Burleson – Obituary

Burnice E. Burleson, 101, of Decatur, passed away Sunday March 24, 2019 at Decatur General. He was born September 07, 1917 in Marion County to Austin Burleson and Della Collier Burleson.

He was in the Battle of the Bulge campaign during WWII and received three bronze stars in the European- African Middle Eastern Campaign. He was a member of the Hackleburg Church of Christ and was also a VFW member and member of the Tri State Carpenter and Jointers Union.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 27, 2019, from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Hackleburg Church of Christ. His funeral will follow at noon, with Bro. Rickey Collum and Bro. Kenneth McCarley officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Cedar Tree Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Baldree Burleson; parents, Austin and Della Burleson; son, Ronnie Burleson; brothers, Mitchell, Glenn and Lowell Burleson and sisters, Myrtle Garrard and Cleta Carroll.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children, James Burleson (wife, Andra) and Patricia “Sissy” Wheller (husband, Doug); daughter-in-law, Jane Burleson; sister, Jewel Stephens; grandchildren, Michelle Belovsky (Nick), Michael Burleson (Julie), Lottie Burleson (Adam), Brittany Burleson Reynolds (Jon), Michael Moore (Heather), Jessica Lyle (Scott), McKenzie Lopez (Will) and Jordan Brand (Gavin); great-grandchildren, Caroline Belovsky, Emma Belovsky, Riley Burleson, April Moore, David Moore, Patrick Lyle, Selah Lyle, Collier Mae Lopez, Mary Charles Lopez and Griffin Burleson Reynolds and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
