F.3.24.19 Samuel Wright.jpgSamuel Douglas Wright, age 31, of Sheffield, passed away Friday, March 22, 2019 after a brief illness.

When Samuel was a young boy, he was a member of the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of America, with his Daddy serving as his troop leader. He played baseball with Sheffield Little League and loved being a part of youth activities with First United Methodist Church of Sheffield. He was a member of the drama club and graduated from Sheffield High School in 2006. He loved playing games on-line with friends, spending time with his nephews, niece and all of his family. He had a passion and love for all animals, especially dogs and was a volunteer for the Colbert County Animal Shelter. His greatest love, however, was helping care for his sister, Elizabeth.

Samuel was preceded in death by his father, Steven B.R. Wright, Sr.; paternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Samuel B. Wright; maternal grandparents, Ellis & Kathryn Strait; uncles, Gene Strait, Arvel Strait and Donald Strait, Sr.; and infant nephew, Ethan Wright.

He is survived by his mother, Diane Strait Wright; sister, Elizabeth Wright; brother, Briggs Wright (Nikki); twin brother, William Wright (Lindsey); nephews, Seth, SB & Dawson Wright; and niece, Isabella Wright, all of Sheffield, AL; special uncle and aunt, Kenneth & Dale Landers; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be Seth Wright, SB Wright, Dawson Wright, Cody Landers, Jacob Fielder, Tim Montgomery and Wade Strait. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Scott Wright, Bradley Landers, Bo Mason, Chris Hudiburg, Donnie Strait, Eddie Strait, Don Strait Jr. and Brandon Strait.

Visitation will be at Spry Williams Funeral Home on Monday, March 25, from 6-8 p.m. The funeral will be Tuesday, March 26, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Jim Azbell officiating. Burial will follow at Railroad Cemetery in Iron City, TN.
