Larry Pat “Bud” Nelson, age 81, of Cherokee/Tuscumbia passed away March 13, 2019. Family will receive friends at Morrison Funeral Home in Cherokee on Saturday, March 16th from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. A graveside service will follow at Harris Chapel Cemetery, Cherokee at 2 p.m. with Reverend Buddy Dover officiating.
Larry served in the Alabama National Guard and the United States National Reserve. He was recognized as a certified sharpshooter. He was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed playing football in high school under Coach James “Bud” Mills. He was a very kind cheerful person and never met a stranger. His heart was always full of love, kindest and respect for others.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Pat Nelson; mother, Leona Mae Nelson; brothers, Bobby Joe Nelson, Roy Lane “Petty” Nelson, Jack Douglas Nelson and James Ray “Jim” Nelson. He is survived by brother, Jerry Lewis Nelson, Mary Elizabeth; sisters, Kathy Nelson Hays, Danny and Janice “Jan” Nelson Llewellyn, Ricky. Larry left behind a host of loving nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Keith Nelson, Michael Wayne Nelson, Christopher David Llewellyn, Daniel Lee Hays, Ricky David Llewellyn, Wayne David Cordle.
