Clyde Harrison Roberts Clyde Harrison Roberts, loving husband and father, died on March 11, 2019, at his home in Florence, Alabama, surrounded by family. He was born on April 17, 1930, in Sheffield, Alabama, to L.R. and Julia Roberts. He graduated from Sheffield High School in 1948. Clyde served with the Amphibious Forces of the United States Navy during the Korean War. He graduated from Florence State College in 1954 and attended Graduate School at the University of Alabama in 1955.
He married Martha Penney Long on April 6, 1957. He retired in 2011 as chairman and owner of J.K. Johnson Contractors. Clyde and Penney had a blessed and happy marriage for 62 years. His four daughters were the joy of his life, Paige (Steve) Cates, Jennifer (Bill) Ethridge, Beth (Phil) Hall, and Ashley (Mark) Borden.
In addition to his wife and daughters, Clyde is survived by seven grandchildren, Kathryn (James) Hill, Mary Elizabeth (Brandon) Moore, Thomas Hall, Julia Hall, Harrison Borden, Anna Borden, and Ben Borden, four great grandchildren, Jayden Jarrett, Sonny Hill, Maddox Clyde Hill, and Ella Paige Hill, a brother, Russ (Carole) Roberts, a brother-in-law, John P. (Mila) Long, a sister-in-law, Mitzi (Martin) Cerjan, and many nieces and nephews. Penney and the family have a lifetime of wonderful memories with Clyde. The family would like to thank our special friends Alice, Jackie, Mildred, Dalia, Anna, Pam, Stephanie, Brittany, and Rochelle for all of their love and care.
Clyde was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Sheffield, Alabama where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2019, at 2:00 in the afternoon.
