 James Willis  BrownJames Willis Brown, age 76, passed away at his residence in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee on Saturday, March 9, 2019.

James was born on December 24, 1942, in Maury County, Tennessee to Lester and Gladys Alexander Brown. He married his devoted and loving wife, Katherine Odom Brown on July 18, 1972. James was a wonderful, loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He loved all sports, but especially loved going to the races. He was a man of few words, but given the opportunity, he would talk for hours about all the ditches he dug and the cable he had buried. He remembered all of the men he worked with and could tell you all the job sites over his many years of performing his construction job. He loved taking care of his children and grandchildren but his greatest love was his wife of 46 years. He was always so attentive to her wants and needs. He was a member of Mt. Zion Church of Christ.

James is survived by his wife: Katherine Brown; children: Phillip (Sherrie) Brown of Mt. Pleasant, Greg (Danielle) Brown of Summertown, Timothy Brown of Mt. Pleasant, and Bradley Brown of Mt. Pleasant; siblings: Willodyne Odom of Summertown and Judy (James) Boshers of Joelton; grandchildren: Noah Brown, Kaitlin Brown, Kolton Brown, TJ Brown, Mason Brown, Justin Brown, Ashley Nance, Julie Brown, Dakota Brown, Courtney Wright, Tabitha Duke, Nicholas Laws, and Joey Norman; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents: Lester and Gladys Brown; sons: Andy Brown and Mark Brown; and siblings: Lucille Estes and Johnny Brown; and granddaughter: Miranda Brown.

Funeral services for James will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Terry Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. The family will visit with friends on Monday, March 11 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Thad Runions, Noah Brown, Greg Brown, Phillip Brown, Lester Finley, Terry Boshers, Nicholas Laws and Joey Norman will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be his co-workers from Wright and Lopez and Star Construction, members of Mt. Zion Church of Christ, Jimmy Dean and Randy Finley.

The family would like to give special thanks to Compassus Hospice, especially to Cindi Brooks, Dr. Paul Perryman, Dr. Jon Freels, and all family and friends.
