Herman Leroy Giffin – Obituary

Herman Leroy Giffin, age 88 of Madison, Alabama passed away March 8, 2019. He was born on October 18, 1930 in Elizabeth, West Virginia to Ithamer and Laura Louella (Matheny) Giffin.

He built 85 houses in one year and he helped to build the Monrovia Church of Christ. For two years, he did mission work in St. Thomas. In Auburn Hills, Michigan he owned his own flooring and tile business.

He is survived by his sons Larry D. Giffin and Dana L. Giffin; daughter Patricia K. Giffin Robinett; step-daughters Edith Kay Wallace and Nancy Joanna Wallace; siblings Dora Deem, Norma Thomas, Harvey Giffin, Margaret Reeves, Pauline McVey, Gerald Giffin, and Hazel Ray; grandchildren Larry D. Giffin Jr., Shawn Giffin, Kristy Robinett Podrue, Derek Robinett, and Alexandra Giffin; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Frances Rose (Higginbotham) Wallace, parents Ithamer Harris Giffin and Laura Louella (Matheny) Giffin, and grandson Yale Giffin.

Family will receive friends Saturday, March 16, 2019 from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm at the Monrovia Church of Christ. A memorial service will follow at 12:00 pm. Interment will he held at Grandview Church of Christ in Elizabeth West Virginia.
