FLORENCE-These pups are URGENT. They have been in the shelter too long and need out, these dogs aren’t broken, they didn’t ask to be brought here and they are at the shelter because humans failed them. Please read each dog’s story and description and help us get them out.

To adopt or foster any of these animals please contact Florence Lauderdale Animal Services at (256) 718-5171 or go by for a visit at 702 E College St
Florence, Alabama 35630.

JJ
2yrs
HW positive
35-40#
JJ is such a sweet and outgoing girl. She loves all dogs and just wants to play and snuggle! She was adopted but brought back because of her breed the property owner wouldn’t allow her.
We will be responsible for her heartworm treatment for an eligible adopter.

Houston
1yr
50#
Heartworm negative
Houston was picked up by one of our street officers running at large. He was skin and bones and wanted to eat everything we put in front of him. He would love a place to run and get some energy out. He prefers medium energy dogs over very hyper ones.

Oakley
1.5yrs
70#
Heartworm negative
Oakley was found as a stray and no one ever came to claim him. He’s low-medium energy and has been great with all of his kennel mates!

Buckley
2yrs
35-40#
Heartworm negative
Buckley is another one that was brought in as stray but no one ever came for! Judging by his pretty purple tongue, he’s a Heeler/chow. He’s very friendly and outgoing. He needs an active lifestyle…he’s not going to be a dog that can be left crated for long periods of time ESPECIALLY without proper exercise. He loves other active dogs!

Duke
4yrs
35-40#
Has been treated for heartworms
Duke (and his sibling Lilly, in a following post) was turned in because the new spouse wouldn’t allow the owner to keep him. He’s low-medium energy and has been good with other dogs.
He is killing me. He’s depressed, not eating, and has lost weight. He’s just tired of being here and I’m afraid he’s given up.

Lilly
4yrs
45#
Has been treated for heartworms
Lilly (Duke’s sibling who was surrendered bc new spouse is crashing at the shelter. She’s going stir crazy in her kennel. Outside her kennel, she is calm and super attentive to what people are doing. She’s medium energy and appreciates dogs with the same energy or calmer.

Donald
2yrs
50#
Heartworm negative
Donald was found dumped on a very rural road. He was thin and starved for attention. This boy is a player! He loves any dog that’s up for a good game of bitey face or romping!

Dawson
2yrs
40#
Heartworm negative
Dawson is yet another dog who was picked up in a very rural part of the country and obviously another victim of being dumped. He is low-medium energy and would make a great dog for an apartment or small home. Dawson wouldn’t take up much room in your bed either! He’s been great with all of his kennel mates.

Lola
2yrs
50-55#
Heartworm negative
Lola has been such a good girl at the shelter but has given up hope of ever getting out. She just keeps getting over looked. She’s medium energy and would love good walks and then snuggles on the couch!
