Arrest Made In Death Of 11-Year-Old Dekalb County Girl

 DEKALB COUNTY-The following statement is from Sheriff Nick Welden concerning the disappearance of Amberly Barnett on Saturday, March 2:

At approximately 6:30 am today (March 2) the deceased body of 11-year-old Amberly Alexis Barnett was located.”

“Due to the current investigation, we are limited on the information we are able to release. I can tell you we are diligently pursuing different avenues and Lord willing we will have answers in the upcoming days.”

Amberly Barnett

would like to announce that an arrest has been made in the case of 11-year-old Amberly Alexis Barnett’s death.

“Christopher Wayne Madison, age 33, has been arrested and charged with Capital Murder. He is being held without bond.

Her body was found in a wooded area approximately 200 yards behind the defendant’s home.

Due to the ongoing investigation, and in order not to jeopardize that investigation, I am not at liberty to disclose any additional information concerning this case.

The road to justice for this sweet, innocent little girl is too important to release anything to jeopardize this investigation.

I would like to thank our staff and all other departments that assisted on this case. This was a true joint effort, a team effort between multiple agencies who all worked tirelessly to help us get to this point.”

According to the autopsy report Amberly Barnett died from strangulation.
