 Mr. William Fred DaugetteMr. William Fred Daugette, age 89, of the Morgan City area passed away Monday, February 25th, 2019 at Huntsville Hospital.
Mr. Daugette was born on October 23rd, 1929 in Greenbrier Cove in Marshall County to Archie Lee Daugette and Cordie May Dunn Daugette. He graduated from Union Hill High School and attended Athens State College. He spent his career as a draftsman. He served in the United States Army as a Medic during the Korean War. He and the former Modane Williams had been married for 64 years and lived their lives in Morgan City. He was a kind, loving and devoted family man who saw the beauty in God’s creations. He enjoyed feeding and taking photos of birds and photographing nature and wildflowers. He enjoyed hiking, camping, history, reading, Alabama football, and listening to music. He had a passion for music and could play several instruments including the guitar, steel guitar and fiddle. He loved church and enjoyed attending gospel singings. In previous years, he was a member of gospel quartets, including the Pine Ridge Boys. He was also in a country-western band that played for several years for senior citizen dances. Most of all he loved being with his family and friends. Mr. Daugette was of the Methodist faith.

He is survived by his wife, Modane Daugette; daughters Christy (Mike) McCormick and Dana Ody; granddaughter, Emily Ody. He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie Lee and Cordie Daugette; brothers, Garfield Daugette and Joe Paul “Pete” Daugette.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 28th at Brindlee Mtn. Chapel, Morgan City with Brothers Phil Clanton and Ken Burcham officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery with Brindlee Mtn. Chapel, Morgan City & Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will be Gentry Daugette, Barry Daugette, Byron Clemons, Tommy Griffin, James L. Dunn and Randy Pool. Honorary pallbearers will include Norman Allen, Radford Pritchett, Glen Houk, Jim Culbreath and Randy Parker.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2018 at Brindlee Mountain Chapel.
