Days Of Constant Rain Bring Flooding To The Quad Cities

THE SHOALS-Unbelievable amount of water are moving down the Tennessee River after days of heavy rainfall with 4 inches or more falling Friday, February 22.  Pickwick Dam is releasing over 3 million gallons per second – that’s 10.8 billion gallons per hour.

Stretches of the river in North Alabama are above flood stage and areas below Pickwick Dam in West Tennessee are approaching and will exceed major flood stage including Savannah and Perryville.

TVA shows rainfall amounts for the month of February to date for Wheeler Dam at 9.62 inches and for Wilson Dam 10.06 inches of rain….meanwhile at the weather center on Wiggins Pond rainfall amounts for the last 24 hours was 4.50 inches, for the last seven days 10.72 and so far for the month of February 12.58 inches of rain.
