Flonell Phillips McCrary, age 95, of Arab, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2019 at Diversicare Healthcare of Arab. She was born August 26, 1923. She lived in the Hopewell Community all of her life except for the last five years which she spent at Diversicare Nursing Facility in Arab. Alabama.
She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church and attended there until health issues prevented her from attendance. She enjoyed going to the Senior Center in Arab and being in the senior choir. Canning and freezing in the summer were more than just essentials, it was a hobby for her. During her final years, she enjoyed the people, activities and staff of Diversicare to the fullest.
Mrs. McCrary was married to Rev. Harvey McCrary, who preceded her in death in 1975.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Landon and Donna McCrary, daughter and son-in-law: Vivian and Lyndall Carter, grandchildren and spouses: Susan and T.J. Guffey, Edward and Tonya Carter, Scott and Tyler McCrary, Steven and Sarah McCrary, Katie and Tyler Gallagher, great- grandchildren and spouses: Taylor Guffey (Courtney) Anna Cox (Bradley) Alex Carter, Robert McCrary, Charlie McCrary, Harvey McCrary, Luke McCrary, Grace McCrary, Bailey Gallagher, Landon Gallagher, Rory Mac Gallagher, great great- grandchildren, Asher Cox, Brooks Guffey (expected in May).
Pallbearers: Scott McCrary, Steven McCrary, Tyler Gallagher, Alex Carter, Taylor Guffey & Bradley Cox.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 22, 2019 at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Clint Landry, Bro. Bradley Cox & Bro. Ennis Stone, officiating. Mrs. McCrary will lie-in-state at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
