Janet Leigh Edmondson Kinsey – Obituary

Janet Leigh Edmondson Kinsey, 57, met her Maker on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019 while at Sanctuary Hospice House.  Janet fought a valiant 18 month battle with Glioblastoma brain cancer.

Born October 3, 1961 in Tupelo to the late George Ira Edmondson and Charlene Wood Edmondson, she grew up in Shannon and graduated with honors from Shannon High School in l979. After attending ICC for 2 years, she worked many years in Human Resources at Allied Furniture.  She was a longtime active and faithful member of the First Baptist Church-Verona where she was involved in GA’s, Youth group, Social/Hospitality Committee Chair and was a Vacation Bible School and Nursery worker.  She was a PTA officer and homeroom mother for her children in Tupelo Public Schools.  An adventurous and creative soul, Janet enjoyed Oil and Acrylic Painting, Cooking and Traveling.  Her greatest love was that of her children.  She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife and mother whose love, encouragement and support to those closest to her is legendary.  She will be sorely missed.

A service celebrating her life will be held at 11:30 AM Monday, February 18, 2019 at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Dr. Jerry East, her former pastor at First Baptist, Verona officiating.  Private burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 3 PM-5 PM Sunday and one hour prior to the service on Monday, all at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo Chapel, which is honored to be serving their friends.  The service may be viewed via www.hollandfuneraldirectors.com/Livestreaming in real time Monday and for 60 days thereafter.

Leaving behind to continue her legacy is her two children, Kaitlyn Kinsey Foster and her husband, Zane of Pearl, MS and her son, George Austin Kinsey of Shannon. step sons, Eric Kinsey (Lynzee) and Joe Kinsey. A step grandson, Jackson Kinsey. her mother, Charlene Edmondson of Shannon and her sister, Sue Ann Edmondson Teer of Belden. A special uncle, Sykes Wood, her best friends, Mitzi Davis and Margie Goddard.  She was preceded in death by her father, George, her husband, Jerry Wayne Kinsey in 2008, her brother in law, Fred Teer, in 2015, her lifelong friend, Donna Baggett and her step daughter, Samantha Kinsey.

Pallbearers will be Neil Baggett, Andy Davis, Ricky Herndon, Thomas Wayne Whitehead, Joe West and Lee Duncan. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Couch, Moe Jefcoat, Robin Thornton, Mike Baggett, Eric Kinsey and Zane Foster.
