Virginia Wilemon Dobbs – Obituary

Mrs. Virginia Wilemon Dobbs, 93, went to be with her Heavenly Father, Monday, February 11, 2019 at Union Co. Health and Rehabilitation Center.  She was born March 11, 1925, in Blackland, MS to Lawson Levi Wilemon and Annie Gilley Wilemon.  She married Otha Lee Dobbs in 1945 and they shared forty-seven years together before his death in 1992.  She worked many years as a seamstress employed by Blue Bell Shirt Manufacturing in Baldwyn.  She later worked as a caregiver for families she grew to love dearly.  She was an exceptional seamstress and very artistic.  She began oil painting after her husband’s death in the early 90’s.  Her paintings are exquisite.  She was a faithful member of Cedar Grove United Pentecostal Church.

A celebration of Virginia’s life and home-going will be at 2 PM, Saturday in the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Kenny Childers and Bro. Danny Robbins officiating.  Burial will follow at Lee Memorial Park.  Visitation will be Friday from 5 PM to 8 PM at Cedar Grove United Pentecostal Church and Saturday from 1 PM to service time at the funeral home.

Survivors include her son, Larry Dobbs and his wife, Linda of Starkville; one sister, Bobbie Nell O’Callaghan of Blue Springs; 4 grandchildren, Gregory Dobbs (Connie), Stephanie Dobbs Hall (Todd), Gloria Tolbert (David), and Ginger Williams (Richard); great grandchildren, Josh Tolbert, Austin Tolbert, Alaina Coleman, Amber Wylie, Walker Holmes, Emily Hall, and Channing Hall; 5 great-great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, daughter Mary O’Callaghan, 4 brothers and 4 sisters.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren and friends, Joe Putt, Gregory Dobbs, Austin Tolbert, Walker Holmes, Bob O’Callaghan, and Daniel Hines.Condolences to the family may be posted at hollandfuneraldirectors.com.
