William Clanton Hovater, 76, Moulton, Alabama passed away Sunday, October 28, 2012, at his residence.

He was a native of Franklin County, but had lived in Lawrence County most of his life. He was a member of Old Town Creek Baptist Church and served as deacon for 46 years. He served our country 10 years in the Air Force. He was retired from Monsanto.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, October 31, 2012, 11a.m. at Old Town Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Jerome Sherrill and Rev. Barry Cater officiating. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Moulton. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 30, 2012, 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville.

Survivors include wife, Gwendlyon Reed Hovater, Moulton; children, Judy Britnell (Ronald), Hartselle, Chrystal “Chris” Sherrill (Mike), Haleyville, Sandy McKinney (Danny), Spruce Pine, Alice Kimbrough (Robin), Mt. Hope; mother, Dora Lee Plott Killis, South Elgin, Illinois; sisters, Shirley Towe (Clyde) O’Fallon, Missouri, Shelby Watt, Ft. Myers, Florida, Katie Martin (Jim), Pensacola, Florida; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Brad Coan, Josh Britnell, Heath McKinney, Chandler Kimbrough, Gabe Willis, Brandon Bradley, Hank Dutton, Lee Roberts.

Honorary bearers will be Deacons of Old Town Creek Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by father, William Henry Hovater.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideons International or Old Town Creek Baptist Church Building Fund.

Pinkard Funeral Home will be directing.
