Ouida Britton began this life in Rockwood, Alabama on May 6, 1931 and left February 7, 2019 after 87 years. Even though home bound and mostly bedridden the last few years, she lived a full and happy life.

Ouida was a special and unique individual who loved her God, family, and friends; and her family and friends were numerous. Her husband of seventy years, William, passed in 2016 as did her youngest son, James. She was the last of her generation having outlived her parents, three brothers and a sister, and other family, including an infant daughter.

Among those surviving Ouida, are a son Gene Britton (Carole), four daughters: Janice McAffry (Mac), Joyce Wright (Tommy), Cindy Parker (Jim), and Jennifer Kimbrell, 13 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. Ouida loved everyone of them very much and touched the lives of many others in her journey.

Her husband, William, travelled the world in his lifetime but Ouida enjoyed the comfort of her home. Her kitchen was a well visited destination. She once said “ I could stare at a blank wall and never be bored,” and that was true of the life she lived.

The family is especially thankful to Alfonso Martinez, Kelly Bragwell, and grandson, Adam Britton, who provided special and loving care in her last days.

Ouida was a member of the Highland Park church of Christ in Muscle Shoals and resided in Tuscumbia the last fifty years. As per her request there was a graveside service at Spruce Pine Church of Christ Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2019.
