Okey James Richards – Obituary

Mr. Okey James Richards, age 86, of Arab, passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at his residence.
Mr. Richards was born on October 16, 1932 in West Virginia to Joseph W. Richards & Goldie Mae Leasure Richards. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Korean War and was recently in line to receive an Ambassador for Peace Metal. Okey and Mrs. Kazuko Richards have been married for 63 years, they are formerly of Parkersburg, West Virginia but have been residing in the Arab area since 1998. Mr. Richards retired as a distribution manager for G.E. Plastics. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #6226.
Mr. Richards is survived by his wife, Kazuko Richards; sons & daughters-in-law, Mark Richards & Kendall, John D. Richards & Becky; daughter & son-in-law, Virginia Lee & Billy; grandchildren, Elaina Franks & Daniel, Miranda Gerhard & Cody, Summer Miller; great grandchildren, Skilynn Miller, Asher Franks; host of nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph & Goldie Mae Richards; 5 brothers; 3 sisters.
Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
In lieu of flowers family has requested donations be made to Shepherd’s Cove Hospice- 408 Martling Road, Albertville, Al. 35951 or the VFW Post #6226- P.O. Box 1153, Arab, Al. 35016.
