Roberta Strickland Wright – Obituary

F.2.8.19 Roberta Wright.jpgWith a quiet sigh, Roberta Strickland Wright left her loved ones for her heavenly reward on Tuesday, February 5, 2019. She was born on July 4, 1922 to Fletcher and Allye Strickland in Holly Springs, Mississippi. She then moved to Florence, Alabama where she lived the rest of her life.

She loved cooking, baking, and all her neighbors she met over the years on Sherrod Avenue. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy.

Roberta was a member of Highland Baptist Church where she was the longest term member in the history of the church. She had a special love for her Sunday school class members who all stayed together until they could no longer attend.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; parents, Fletcher and Allye Strickland; brothers, Austin N. and William R. Strickland (Doris Ann).

Roberta is survived by her daughters, Joan Hudson and Marlene Bernauer (Gerry); granddaughter, Joley Murphy (Bo); grandsons, Chad Smith (Lauren), Matt Bernauer and Andrew Bernauer; and great-grandchildren, Brenna Allen, Violet Smith, Lilah Murphy and Petra Bernauer.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 9th 11 a.m. to noon at Spry~Williams Funeral Home, Florence. The funeral service will follow at noon in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Chris Underwood officiating. Burial will be in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
