James Ely Tillery, age 89, of Owens Cross Roads, AL passed away Saturday, February 2, 2019 at a nursing facility in TN. Mr. Tillery was born in Cedar Town, GA to James and Annie Lee Brock Tillery. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Tillery worked as an engineer at Red Sone Arsenal and as a home builder. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Mr. Tillery was preceded in death by his wife Janice Herring Tillery; his daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Ian McQueen; his siblings Hazel Cantrell, Carolyn Ferguson and Charles Mckelvey.
He is survived by his son James Ely Tillery Jr.; daughters Linda Butler (Brad) and Pamela Hovis (David); eleven grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mr. Tillery will be held on Friday, February 8, 2019 at Hampton Cove Funeral Home from 1 to 2 pm. His funeral will follow at 2 pm. Burial will be in Hampton Cove Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
