Billy Duane Hamm
8/19/45 – 1/30/19
Duane was born in Iuka MS on Sunday, August 19, 1945 to Bliss and Christine Hamm. He was the youngest of three children.
He married Carolyn Skinner on December 24, 1966. They spent their first year of marriage in Germany while Duane served in the Army.
Duane loved the outdoors. He instilled his love of the outdoors in his children, and many other children through his service in the Boy Scouts of America. He was involved in Scouting for over eleven years, and served as Cubmaster and later Scoutmaster of Troop 75 in Burnsville, MS.
Duane also loved to travel, particularly on his motorcycle. After retiring from PCA in Counce, TN, he enjoyed traveling as often as he could. In the summer of 2009 he fulfilled a lifelong dream to travel across the country on his motorcycle with his friends. He was a sociable person and loved to surround himself with friends and family. He never met a stranger.
The memory of his love, vibrancy, smile and laughter will be cherished by those who knew him. The love and light he brought to this world will be missed and remembered.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn Skinner Hamm, his son Jason Duane Hamm, his daughter Aislynn Hamm Wigginton, his grandson Sullivan Duane Hamm, his sister Peggy Hamm McDaniel, and his sister Barbara Hamm Dean.
In lieu of flowers, Duane and the family request that a donation be made in his memory. Along with your donation, send them a story about a time Duane helped you or simply share a fond memory you have of him. The Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi, the Mississippi Kidney Foundation, or the Boy Scouts of America are all worthy organizations but feel free to donate to a charity of your choice.
