Frances Willmarth Moore – Obituary

F.1.31.19 Frances Moore.jpgFrances Willmarth Moore, 91, of Tuscumbia, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at her home with her children present and following a brief illness. Visitation will be Saturday, February 2, 2019 from 10 to 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, Tuscumbia, with the service to follow at 11 a.m. Brother Rudy Guess will officiate. Burial will be in Knights of Pythias Cemetery.

Frances was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church, Tuscumbia, the Red Hat Southern Sisters, and the Alabama Alpha Delta Kappa International Educators Honorary. She was a WWII civil servant as a “Rosie the Riveter” in both Mobile, Alabama and Atlanta, Georgia. She was an honor graduate with a BA, MA, and EDS from the University of North Alabama. Frances was an elementary school teacher at Colbert Heights.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Lance Edward and Fana Denton Willmarth; husbands, Clarence L. Moore and Charles W. Porter; son, Mark E. Moore; sister, Pauline W. Pace and brother-in-law Owen S. Pace; brother, Oliver H. “Son” and sister-in-law, Vela Wayne Willmarth.

Frances is survived by her daughter, Rebecca “Becky” M. Mixson (Roger) of Headland, Alabama; daughter-in-law, Kathy M. Moore (Mark) of Canton, Michigan; son, Neil A. Moore (Karol) of Bonaire, Georgia; brother, Richard B. Willmarth (Jo) of Russellville; granddaughters and grandsons, Caroline Davis (Ben); Susana Pitzing (Zac); Alissa Goodwin (Khary); Patrick Moore (Stephanie); Chase Moore; Drew Moore (Christina); and Molly Moore. She is survived by five great-grandchildren and greatly loved nephews and nieces.

Pallbearers will be Lyle Bickley, Ben Davis, Khary Goodwin, Drew Moore, Patrick Moore and Zac Pitzing.
