Winter Storm WARNING From Midnight Until Noon Tuesday

TENNESSEE VALLEY– The National Weather Service has now issued a Winter Storm Warning for theTennessee Valley.  The Warning is in effect from midnight, January 28 until Noon on Tuesday, January 30.  A strong cold front will move eastward through the region late Monday night, January 28 and into Tuesday morning.  Rainfall in the area along the front will quickly change over to snow from west to east  in the wake of the frontal passage.  With much colder air moderate to occasionally heavy snow can be expected in the area. Total snow accumulations are estimated from 2 to 2.5 inches.  The snow is expected to taper off across extreme northeast Alabama by late Tuesday morning.

The area effected by the snowfall are portions of north central, northeast, and northwest Alabama and all of southern Tennessee.

Travel could be very difficult and the hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning commute. A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather conditions will make travel dangerous or impossible.  If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water along with warm clothing or a blanket in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
