John A. Grigsby – Obituary

John A. Grigsby, age 68, of Florence, passed away January 20, 2019. Visitation will be today, January 22nd from 1 to 2 p.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Tim Grigsby and Chaplain Richard Alexander officiating. Burial will be in Hill Cemetery.

John was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS Bourdelon during the Vietnam Conflict. He was an avid fisherman and loved the Crimson Tide. He was a caring person who would go out of his way to do anything for anyone.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Marie Grigsby; parents, Elizabeth and Aulden Grigsby; and sisters, Rose Marie Salter and Judy Ann Borden. Survivors include his son, Anthony Grigsby; sisters, Stella Holman (Jim) and Tammy Richardson (Junior); brother-in-law, Randy Parrish (Jackie); sister-in-law, Shirley Rogers (Ed); and his pet, “Sable.”

Pallbearers will be Edward Rogers, Matt Rogers, Danny Miller, Eric Bourland, Ryan Boyd, James Turbyfill, Joe Peck and Mac McDaniel. Honorary pallbearers will be Will Louge, Roger Kilburn, Daniel and Dakota Benefield, Jake Boyd and Garrett Bourland.

A special thanks to his nieces, Elizabeth Rogers, Kim Boyd and Mandy Bourland, who lovingly cared for him.
