Owen Gerald CreelOwen Gerald “Jerry” Creel, age 70, of Owens Cross Roads passed away Friday, January 18, 2019 at a local hospital . Mr. Creel was born in Alabama to Owen V. and Ruth Ashley Creel. He was a loving and devoted husband to his late wife Dianne Hope Creel. They had been married 32 years at her passing. He served in the National Guard for 2 years and received an honorable discharge. Mr. Creel was self-employed and had retired to enjoy the hobbies that he loved. He loved golfing, bowling, reading and was considered a history buff. Mr. Creel attended New Salem Baptist Church and was a part of the church security team.
Mr. Creel was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years Dianne Hope Creel and his parents Owen V. Creel and Ruth Ashley Creel. He is survived by his step-sons Jeff Ragan and Brian Ragan (Lezlee); his step-daughter Sherry Myers (Tommy); his brother Neil Creel (Jane); two nephews Andy Creel (Erin) and Cory Creel (Desiree); one great niece Lillyann Creel; seven step-grandchildren and his aunt and uncle Kathleen Hill (Otto).
Visitation for Mr. Creel will be held on Monday, January 21, 2019 at New Salem Baptist Church from 1 to 2 pm. His funeral service will follow at 2pm. Mr. Creel will be buried at Memory Hill in Albertville next to his late wife. His pallbearers will be Cory Creel, Alex Myers, Tommy Myers, Houston Ragan, Grant Ragan and Sawyer Ragan.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mr. Creel’s memory to the New Salem Baptist Church Building Fund.
