Mr. Scott Michael Howard, 54, was called home on Monday, January 14, 2019, after a lengthy struggle with early-onset dementia.

Scott Howard was born April 14, 1964, in Paducah, Kentucky, to Mr. Harold Howard of Kevil, Kentucky and Mrs. Joyce MacFarlane Howard (d. 2007). Scott graduated from Ballard Memorial High School as the valedictorian of the Class of ‘82. He played percussion in the Marching Patriots band, which is how he met his high school sweetheart and future spouse, Mrs. Harriet Henneman Howard.

Scott attended Murray State University after high school, double majoring in mathematics and computer science. He and Harriet married upon Scott’s graduation in 1986, after which they relocated for Scott’s burgeoning career.

After a brief stint in Knoxville, Tennessee, Scott and Harriet moved to Decatur, where Scott worked for several major companies in aerospace/defense space, including Boeing and Lockheed Martin. His greatest professional pride was his time as a subcontractor for NASA in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s, when his work contributed to the Chandra X-Ray Telescope and International Space Station construction projects.

Scott is survived by his loving wife, Harriet of Knoxville, Tennessee; his devoted daughter, Sophie of Montgomery; his father, Harold; his aunt, Doris Elrod; his cousins, Gaye and Rick Brewer; and many beloved friends and colleagues. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce, and his uncle, Clyde Elrod (d. 2017).
