Bro. Jimmie Bryan Davis, 87, left his earthly home to be with his Lord and Savior in Heaven on Wednesday, January 9, 2019. He was born April 26, 1931, in Nauvoo, Alabama, one of nine children of the 80 year marriage of Claude Bryan Davis and Lula Norris Davis. Bro. Jimmie, as most people called him, was called to preach at age 16. He was pastor of Southside Baptist Church and Sovereign Grace Baptist Church in Fulton for several years while serving as pastor of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Fayette, Alabama, for 58 years. He would preach at Mt. Lebanon at 8:30 on Sunday mornings and drive back to Fulton to preach at 11:00 a.m. He also shared the gospel of Christ on local radio and television broadcasts. After retiring at the age of 85 years young, Bro. Jimmie still preached from time to time up until his death. He was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church in Tilden and a Mason. While faithfully following the Lord’s will in delivering the word of God, he still kept a big garden without one blade of grass in it. Bro. Jimmie married the love of his life, Betty Glover, in 1951, and together they had three loving daughters, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, January 11, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Bill Lee, Bro. Bobby Amos, and Bro. Lee Roy Dutton officiating. Burial will be in Itawamba Memorial Gardens.

Bro. Davis is survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty Glover Davis; his daughters, Jane Rather (David) of Tupelo and Holly Springs, Jimmie Nell Davis of Pelahatchie, MS, and Anita Williamson (Stan) of Golden; six grandchildren, Justin Gregory (Dana) of Brandon, Brandon Williamson of Golden, Jill Gregory of Ridgeland, Bryan Williamson (Viviana) of Vicksburg, Alexis Rather of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Kate Killough (Chris) of Corinth; his great-grandchildren, Garrett Gregory, Makenzie Williamson, Brantley Williamson, Greenlee Gregory, Jacob Quinn, and Diego Elias Williamson; one sister, Bobbye Williams (Joe Don) of Clearwater, Florida; two brothers, Roger Davis of Birmingham, Alabama, and Roland Davis (Vicki) of Carbon Hill, Alabama; a sister-in-law, Joyce Wingo of Empire, Alabama; several nieces and nephews; and his precious caregiver, Dedra Jones Frederick (Eddie) of Fulton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; three brothers; and his in-laws, Rufus and Nell Glover; two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law.

Pallbearers will be Justin Gregory, Brandon Williamson, Bryan Williamson, David Rather, Stan Williamson, and Chris Killough. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Fikes, Edwin Ballinger, Jeffrey Ballinger, Doris Gann, Tom and Janice Parker, and Mike and Sherry Bennett.

Visitation will be from noon until service time Friday at the funeral home.

The family wishes to thank his hospice nurses Nicole McCracken and Sonya Carruthers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, Union Grove Baptist Church in Fulton, or Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Fayette, Alabama.
