Hazel McCormick Franklin Parker – Obituary

Funeral service for Hazel McCormick Franklin Parker, 91, will be Friday, January 11, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tom Campbell and Tim Rice (Hospice Chaplain) officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery.  Visitation will be Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.

Mrs. Parker died on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at her residence.  She was born November 23, 1927, in Morgan County to Claude McCormick and Elsie Moore McCormick.  Mrs. Parker retired from nursing after more than 40 years of service. Her places of employment included Pineview Hospital and The Lurleen B. Wallace Center. Her love for helping others continued after retirement through working at Falkville Nursing Home and several assisted living facilities. Mrs. Parker was an avid gardener and loved working in her flower and vegetable gardens. She loved to cook, rarely using a recipe. She was well known for preparing food for friends and family members who were unable to cook themselves. Mrs. Parker was a member of First Baptist Church in Hartselle, but she always considered Shady Grove Baptist Church in Neel as her home church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Virgle Parker, one son: John Wayne Franklin, a brother: Truitt McCormick; two sisters: Gladys Christian and Estelle Roberts and a special friend, Coy Vinzant. The family would like to thank Alacare Hospice and sitter’s: Fay, Doris, Theresa, Connie, Reginia, Janet and Harriett for all the love and compassion shown to her.

Four Surviving Grandchildren:
Dana Lynn (Richie)
Valerie Sapp (Mark)
Leslie McAbee (Jeremy) and
Trenton Reynolds (Holli)

Eight Great-Grandchildren and
One Great-Great Grandchild

Daughter-in-Law:
Maxine Franklin

Two Sister-in-laws:
Betty McCormick and
Katie Kirby

A host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Mark Lane, David Christian, Bubba McCormick, Rex Wray, Jeremy McAbee and Trenton Reynolds.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Laney McCormick, Pat Lane and Buddy Walker.
