Robert Stubblefield Smith Jr., 81, of Huntsville, Al, passed away Friday.
Bob was born in Jacksonville, FL, graduated from Greenwood, MS High School, and received a B.S. degree from Mississippi State University in 1960 in Aeronautical Engineering.
Bob was married to Ann Smith on January 26, 1962; they were married 56 years.
Bob worked as an aeronautical engineer for 43 years, and was a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserves. He enjoyed spending time with family, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, gardening, bird-watching, astronomy, and coin collecting. He was actively involved in The Gideons International, Jail Ministry, First Baptist Church ministries, Baptist Builders, and Meals–on-Wheels.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Smith; sons, Steve Smith (Melanie) of Arab, AL, Kenneth Smith of Huntsville, Darrell Smith (Nuria) of Leon, Spain; daughter, Shannon Langmaack (Micah) of Indianapolis, IN; four grandchildren, Jennifer Nava (Diego) of Huntsville, Russell Smith of Huntsville, and Valeria and Sira Smith of Leon, Spain; three great-grandchildren, Hanna, Ariana, and Sofia Nava of Huntsville; and his brother, Edgar Smith of Maumelle, AR. Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Cirvillah Blanchard Smith and his father Robert Stubblefield Smith.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30 Friday, January 11 at First Baptist Church chapel, 600 Governors Drive. The funeral will follow at 11:30 in the chapel. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery.
