F 1.6.19 Laura Stonecipher.jpgLaura Katherine Stonecipher, 37, of Spanish Fort, Alabama, died on January 2, 2019. She was originally from Sheffield, Alabama.

Visitation will be today, January 6, 2019 at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia from noon p.m. until 2 p.m. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. with Bart Bowlin officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Sheffield.

She was preceded in death by her father, John E. Stonecipher Jr. and grandparents, Ray and Estelle Freeman and John E. and Dorothy Stonecipher.

She is survived by her mother, Kathy Stonecipher; aunt, Wanda Bailey (Carl); uncle, Bob Freeman (Patti); and aunt, Susan James (Wayne).

Her cousins were so special to her. They are Brent Bailey (Sue), Lisa Mallette (Steve), and Lon Freeman (Justine), Kevin James and David James (Cindy). She enjoyed spending time with her baby cousins, Abby, Maddy, Grace, and Caroline.

Laura graduated from Sheffield High School in 2000. She graduated from Birmingham Southern College in 2004 with a degree in Accounting. She was a member of Chi Omega Women’s Fraternity. In 2008 she received her MBA from The University of North Alabama. She was a member of the Junior League of Birmingham and Birmingham Opera Guild.

Laura was employed by Southern Company. Her employment led her to Dothan, Alabama, with Southern Nuclear. She recently moved to Spanish Fort, Alabama.

She was currently a member of Dothan First United Methodist Church. She grew up in the Sheffield First United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir.

Laura enjoyed running. Although she was not a fast runner, she always finished the race.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s, Sheffield First United Methodist Church, or the Sheffield Public Library.
