Aurora M. Lawen Aurora Lawen, 73 of Hartselle, beloved mother, wife, grandmother (Lola), sister, aunt, and friend passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 3, 2019

 

A native of Leyte, Philippines, Aurora married James Lawen, US Navy, and came to the US in the early 1970’s.  James preceded her in death in 1979 after which Aurora moved to Gurley, Alabama with her four sons.  Aurora met Sherman Herring, her current husband, in 1981 and moved to Hartselle where the two have truck farmed for many years, selling their vegetables, canned goods, and homemade crochet goods at the Decatur Farmers Market.  Aurora was preceded in death by two of her sons, Angel in 1980 and Albert in 1988.

 

Aurora will be missed dearly by her husband, Sherman Herring, her sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Candice Lawen of Shelbyville, Tennessee and Tony and Roselynne Lawen of Greenville, South Carolina, her eleven grandchildren (Justin, Caleb, Sarah Ashlyn, Clarissa, Lydia, Dakota, Jaxon, Atticus, Maddox, Zoe, and Rosie), and her extended family and friends throughout the US and the Philippines.  

 

Visitation will be held at Ridout Brown-Service Funeral Home in Decatur, Alabama at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 6 and a memorial service at 3:00 pm with a small celebration reception immediately following the service.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to your favorite local charity in her honor.
