Bessie Springer Hamner – Obituary

F.1.4.19 Bessie Hamner.jpg Bessie Springer Hamner, 94, of Killen, Alabama, passed away January 1, 2019.  Mrs. Hamner was a homemaker and member of Atlas Church of Christ where she served as a devoted elder’s wife for 43 years.  She liked to talk. Shopping was one of her favorite pastimes and it showed in the way she dressed.  But more importantly, she enjoyed helping others whether it be cooking a meal, cleaning or just being a friend.

She is survived by daughter Ellen Thornton (Gerald); sons, Dwight Hamner(Susan) and Lynn Hamner(Diane); grandchildren Nicole Cook (Shannon), Rachel Thornton, Daks Hamner (Heather), Lindsay Hamner, Lisa Wylie (Brian);great grandchildren, Chelsea Yates, Dylan Wylie, Ryland Hamner, Brynn Hamner and Gabe Nash; brothers Jessie Springer and W.O. Springer (Jane); many nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Mary Etta Springer; husband Herschel William Hamner; infant son Don; brothers, Sanford Springer, Dock Springer; sister, Louella Butler.

Visitation is 12:00-2:00 with funeral following at 2:00 on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Atlas Church of Christ with Brother Miles Stutts and Brother Steve Shelton officiating.  Burial will be in Richardson Chapel Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Olen Springer, Mark Cabler, Will Cabler, Daks Hamner, Glen Lee Butler, Dylan Wylie and Pate Wear.

The family would like to thank the nurses, CNA’s and employees at Cedar View Assisted Living and Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home for their loving care of their mother.
