Tharol Dee Smith – Obituary

Tharol Dee Smith died peacefully in his home Saturday, December 28, 2018 in Mt Hope, AL at the age of 93.

Tharol was born January 3, 1925 and graduated from Mt Hope High School April 20, 1943. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy where he served in World War II in the Pacific Theater, Battle of Tarawa. He was a member of Mt Hope Baptist Church, where he led singing for a time.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Humphrey Posie Smith and Lonie Belma Pickens Smith; his wife, Audrey Lee Blankenship Smith; and siblings, Lois Sibley, Wallace Edwin Smith, Beuna Swallows, Reba Stella Smith, Russell Thomas Smith, and William Ray “Bill” Smith, and their spouses, and brother in law Carlton Blankenship.

He is survived by a son, Larry Thomas Smith(Jane); a daughter, Jo Anne Latham; six grandchildren, Tad Hazel (Angie), David Hazle (Wendy), Jason Smith, Michael Latham, Autumn Lea Smith, and Lori Anne Graham (Barry); nine great grandchildren, Amber Hazle Warren (Taylor), Megan Hazle Richard (Kyle), Matthew Hazle, Hanna Latham, Harley McGuire, Jessa Latham, Taylor Kate Smith, Ansley Reese Smith, and Aubrey Reagan Smith; sister-in-law Tincy Blankenship; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 2 till 3 p.m. Sunday December 30, 2018 at Mt Hope Baptist Church. The funeral will follow at 3:00. Jonathan Henderson will officiate with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Family will serve as pallbearers.
