The life for Demetria, affectionately known as “Me-Me” began in Huntsville, Alabama on March 18, 1974 to Teresia Ann Scruggs Spraggins and the late Shelby “Pinky” Spraggins Jr. She departed this life on December 7, 2018 at the Decatur General Campus of Decatur Morgan Hospital.

Like most children, Demetrius’ early years were filled with play, family outings, school and worship at King’s Memorial United Methodist Church where she confessed her hope in Christ. She was a 1992 graduate of Decatur High School. She also attended Tennessee State University. She was a supervisor at Dutch Quality with nearly 20 years of dedicated service.

She was a fun-loving person that had a beautiful personality. She loved her family and was truly proud of her daughter, Diamones. She also loved so many cousins that they were like siblings.

She was preceded in death by her father; grandparents, Tommie and Ovenia Wilson Reedus, Shelby Sr. and Coease McDaniel Spraggins, Charles and Willie Bea Bush Bankston; uncles, Willie Scruggs and Johns Wesley Gill Sr.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Diamones Alexis Spraggins; mother, Teresia Spraggins, both of Decatur; siblings, Byron L. (Taryn) Spraggins of Memphis, Tennessee, Travia Garth, Terrius “Peanut” Strain and Shelby Strain, all of Decatur; grandmother, Billie Dean Scruggs of Decatur; and a plethora of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
