Rosemary Prickett Hooper passed away on November 21st, 2018 after a brief illness. She was 89 years old.

Born in Guntersville on August 21st, 1929, she attended both the Old Rock School and Marshall County High School. She and her family attended the First Methodist Church. She also worked for her father at Prickett Drug Company where she developed a love for pharmacy. As a 1952 graduate of Auburn University with a degree in Pharmacy, she opened Medical Arts Apothecary in Cullman, AL in 1956, before remarrying and moving to Albertville in 1969, where she worked at P&J Pharmacy for over 30 years before retiring. She greatly supported locally owned and operated businesses. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Albertville for nearly fifty years and was a supporter of the Presbyterian Children’s Home. An avid reader of books, she also loved to sew, especially embroidery. More importantly, she was a dedicated Auburn Football fan living in a House Divided with her husband, a dedicated Alabama Football fan.

Rosemary will be lovingly remembered by her children, Francis Colzey (Rickie) Smith, Jr., Patricia Louise Lawson, William Sidney Smith and Linda Ruth (Bill) Jeff. She will also be fondly remembered by her ten grandchildren Myra, Weston (Dakota), Emma, Billy (Misty), Amanda, Jonathan (April), Patrick (Stephanie), Joshua (Amanda), Leigh Ellen (Riley) and Sean (Gina), as well as ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Jesse Prickett, mother Myra Williams Prickett, sister Patricia Prickett Cazalas, and her step-son, William D. Hooper, Jr. And, earlier this year, her beloved husband of 49 years, William DeLeon Hooper.

A graveside service for family and friends will be held Sunday, December 16th at 2:00 pm at the old Guntersville City Cemetery. Rev. Ed Hamlett will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in her memory are made to the First Presbyterian Church of Albertville or The Presbyterian Children’s Home in Talladega.
