Mary Nola Suggs Carr – Obituary

A Celebration of Life for Mary Nola Suggs Carr, age 68 of Bluff Springs, will be held on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland with Reverend Tim Tipton officiating. Burial will follow in the Clay County Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Carr passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family in Bluff Springs. She was a native and life-long resident of Clay County. She was a 1968 graduate of Bibb Graves High School after transferring from Clay County High School and was a homemaker. Mrs. Carr was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Oscar Otto Carr Jr. of Bluff Springs; two sons: Tony Carr (Karen) of Bluff Springs and Kevin Carr of Milford, CT; two grandchildren: Colten Carr (Chassidie) and Clayton Carr; three brothers: Willard Suggs of Gulf Shores, Bobby Suggs (Sherene) of Birmingham and Rodney Suggs (Donna) of Southside and two sisters: Betty Knight of Cullman and Wilmer Florence (Dean) of Irondale.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Elbert Suggs and Gladys Wheeles Suggs; two brothers: Ronald Suggs and Jimmy Suggs and her granddaughter, Kara Hay.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 8, 2018 from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland. The family will accept flowers and donations to the Clay County Rescue Squad, 453 Taylor Road, Lineville, AL 36266.
