Cora L. Nelson – Obituary

Cora L. Nelson, 100, died Thursday, December 6, 2018 at her residence. She was born May 18, 1918 in Franklin County, Al. to Felix Oscar Hamm and Dora Ellen Hall Hamm. She was a homemaker and a member of Red Bay Freewill Baptist Church.

Services will be Saturday, December 8, 3 p.m. at Red Bay Freewill Baptist Church, Red Bay, AL with Bro. Steve Lindsay and Bro. Yohan Hong officiating. Burial will be in Halltown Cemetery, Vina, AL. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by two children – Helen Nelson and Bobby Nelson, both of Red Bay, AL; seven grandchildren – Susanne Franklin, Lynnette Mann, Dianna Stepp, Connie Nunley, Meleah Huguley, Julie Hester and Lindley Hollander; fifteen great-grandchildren; twelve great-great-grandchildren and one sister – Avie Bohannan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Maurice Nelson, her parents, a son, Tommy Nelson, an infant daughter, Dora Lee Nelson, four brothers and two sisters.

Her great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Red Bay United Methodist Church Food Pantry, P.O. Box 126, Red Bay, AL 35582.

Visitation will be Saturday, December 8, 1-3 p.m. at Red Bay Freewill Baptist Church.
