Elkmont Man Dies After Being Struck By Vehicle Near Athens

ATHENS-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a pedestrian struck and killed on Tuesday, December 4 near Athens

“A single-vehicle crash at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 4, has claimed the life of an Elkmont man.

Richard Steelman, 87, was struck by a 2012 Ford Fusion as he crossed Alabama Highway 127. Steelman was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford was not injured and did remain at the scene.

The crash occurred three miles north of Athens. Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.”
